Ensuring a high quality educational experience and skills relevant to the 21st century
Mrs. Bright has a Bachelor of Science degree in vocal music,
extended, K-12 from UW-L. She also earned a master's degree in the
Master's of Professional Development Program from UW-L.
She started teaching music in the Sparta Area
School District in 1968. She has taught at all of the
elementary schools except Lawrence Lawson and is currently
teaching at Cataract and Meadowview Intermediate.
The big news, of course, is the 5th grade music program. The
boys and girls are working very hard on getting their songs
memorized. We will perform "Holiday Colors" on Dec. 16th at
7:00 pm at the Sparta Senior High Auditorium. We will be
rehearsing and performing the whole program at the Senior High at
1:30 P.M. also as a dress rehearsal that same day. Boys and girls
should come at 6:45 p.m. the evening of the
16th and go to the cafeteria to line up. Dresses and
ties always look great, but nice school clothes is fine.
All students need a flashlight, labelled. Bring them by
Dec. 3. Please give to the classroom teacher.
We'll be extending our recorder skills in January. If boys and
girls want to use their recorder from last year, it would be a good
idea to bring it to school soon.
4th grade is doing well on recorders. I hope
you are hearing improvement at home. I encourage boys and girls to
take recorders home and practice. It's the only way to improve!
They will soon be composing a song of their own to perform for me.
This will be the major part of their grade for the 2nd
trimester. It will take some practice time at home to do well. I
will collect the pink sheets that you are signing on January 7 and
The 4th graders will have a holiday
sing-along on Dec. 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the cafetorium.
Classes will perform a song, perform on recorders and sing holiday
songs together. Join us for a fun time!
5th grade choir will be singing in the
Christmas parade Friday, Dec. 5th at 6:00
p.m. Line up at 5:45 on the corner of N.Water by
Park Bank. Bring a canned good for a glow stick. We will also sing
at the park at the end of the parade for about 10 minutes. Please
arrange a place to meet your child at the park (by the stage or
fire are good locations). Wear hand and toe warmers, your holiday
hats (not Santa hats) and anything that lights up. If anyone has
any big snowflakes or sparkly hats with snowflakes, we could use
some added decorations for the truck. Mr. Kenworthy is going to
drive the choir in the parade this year, so look for the truck at
the parade line up. On Dec. 12th, Friday, they will be
caroling at the Morrow home from 4:30-5:00 P.M. in the main
dining room. Parents are responsible for
getting singers to both these events. I need chaperones
for both events. We will also be performing at the 5th grade music
program. Thank you for supporting these extra activities. They mean
a lot to the students.
Take time to relax and enjoy some of the many wonderful musical
events that Sparta is offering this holiday season. It's a great
way to spend time with the family.
